Description

BioInformatics, LLC, based in Arlington, VA, was founded in 1994 as a provider of market research, business intelligence, and advisory services to the life science and analytical tools industry. The company has recently also acquired IMV, a market research and business intelligence asset with a strong user base and consistent revenue and cashflow.

BioInformatics maintains the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), a proprietary network of nearly 100,000 scientists, researchers, and other clinical professionals. The company also provides subscription-based market data through its Strategic Directions International (SDi) business unit, which it acquired in 2015.

IMV provides market research, digital media, and advertising solutions for radiology, medical imaging, clinical diagnostic, and dental markets. IMV also includes AuntMinnie.com, an online community for radiologists through which they can share information, read and post reviews, and engage with thought leaders and the greater radiology community. AuntMinnie.com has more than 140,000 users.  DrBicuspid.com is a sister site to AuntMinnie, targeting the dental market with more than 30,000 registered active users.

BioInformatics has opportunities for growth as it transitions from a predominantly custom research model to a subscription-based model with additional value-add services. While the company had no advertising revenues in 2017, it has completely booked its advertising revenues for 2018. BioInformatics will also be able to generate more annual industry benchmark standard reports, and provide customers with more historical data on survey respondents.
